Hi ZinniaOpal, welcome! I too found this forum very helpful when I was starting to natvigate around for something that would work. I wish you the best and always keep hope and don’t give up! I had my procedure in July and I have a feeling I will have to dilate for at least a year. I dilated for about 2 years before I threw in the towel and decided to get this treatment and since July it has been so much easier to dilate but I think I still have a ways to go. Every one is different, you will know what is working and not working for you and Dr. Pacik can be really helpful along the way!

    Hi Kate91,
I wanted to share with you that I too have vulvodynia and vaginismus and have started to overcome both and I am so happy for you that you are getting the procedure. I went through so much before finding a combination of treatments that work. I took gabapentin for a year which helped with the vulvar pain but did nothing for the muscles and dilating was still so difficult. I truly believe that between the botox procedure, acupuncture and talking with my counselor, it was the combo that worked for me to start to overcome vulvodynia and vaginismus. My issues started after giving birth and it has taken me 2.5 years to finally get back to the way I was before all of this started. I felt so defeated every time I tried something and it didn’t work or it only partially worked. I tried sooooo many things…..creams, lidocaine, physical therapy, chiropractic care, antidepressants, anti seizure meds, and there are probably a few I am missing! Getting the botox procedure is what I needed to help my muscles relax and I don’t have any vulvar pain anymore. I wish you the best and I am thinking of you!

Haha, 23yrs that post about hot stuff made me laugh, that is great! I too have noticed how hot they get, I was pretty shocked but I guess since our body temp is 98.6 it makes sense that they would get a little hot.

He doesn’t like vibrators! I feel your pain with not having clitoral stimulation with something like a vibrator because in order for me to enjoy intercourse I need to have something like that. Sounds like you need to find a happy medium with what he is comfortable with (no dilators) and what you need to enjoy intercourse (some clitoral stimulation). That is tough but I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will both find something that will help! Sorry I can’t be more helpful 🙁

Kelseroo, I too waited until I had my procedure scheduled to join and start posting to the forum. For some reason until I did that, I did not feel comfortable posting. I tend to keep all these issues going on with the big V more private and only a few close friends, family and coworkers know about it so the thought of posting it on the internet was very intimidating for me. But since I started posting I really enjoy chatting with others going through this process. Like 23years I think I also felt like an imposter because I have secondary vaginismus and not primary and it wasn’t until after I delivered that this all started. I felt guilty that I had a “normal” sex life before I had my baby and other women never had that. So even though I had no reason to feel this way, I did. I also put this on a credit card that my husband and I are still trying to figure out how to pay off in 12 months, we will find a way somehow. I am happy I overcame it my fear of posting and I am excited for you to have the procedure and overcome this!

I wore my yoga pants and a Tshirt to the office, something comfy is good. Don’t forget to pack a couple of pairs of underwear and something like biking shorts to bring with you to the procedure. For the actual procedure you get to wear one of those hospital gowns, very classy :-). Ps. Even I am cold today in NH! We have a cool breeze thing going on.

If you are from a warm climate, NH is going to be cold to you :). There was someone from the south having her procedure the same day as me from the south and she mentioned how cold she was so definitely bring a sweatshirt. The mornings are still cool and the days can range between 70 to 90 degrees. The morning is more fifties and sixties. Been sunny but thunderstorms here and there with rain. Prep for it to be a little cool for you 🙂
