Try mixing half red wine and half lemonade- it’s delicious! I’m not much of an alcohol girl myself either;-)

Wow, congratulations 23years! That is so great- even with working with Diane, my insurance wouldn’t reimburse me one cent:-/ I hope the policies of insurance companies changes soon with regards to these types of treatments!

Congratulations! Isn’t it awesome to be able to wear tampons now? I still can’t get over the fact that I could go swimming while on my period now. So awesome! (I had my procedure in April, so I have had a few periods since then.) I’m so happy for you! These little benchmarks of progress really make a difference!

Oh my goodness, I am feeling the exact same way as you girls. I had my procedure in April, had intercourse for the first time in May. Right now sex feels like work for me- we can’t do anything spontaneous, because I need to dilate for at least an hour before so I am stretched enough. I have been wondering what is wrong with me- I feel like dealing with vaginismus for the past 3 years has turned off something in my brain that I just can’t turn back on. I think back to when my husband and I were dating- we couldn’t keep our hands off each other- we made out all the time, and I couldn’t wait to have sex when we got married. I still love my husband very much and am attracted to him, but I just can’t seem to get aroused like he does. I am able to orgasm with a vibrator or oral on the clitoris, which we do sometimes. But overall, I feel like I’m just going through the motions most of the time when we have sex. I don’t know what to do- my husband tries so hard to be romantic and “warm me up” but most of the time it only helps a little. I feel like I’m pretending to be into it more to make my husband happy, but inside I feel kind of numb. I’m so glad I’m not the only one struggling with this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for all your comment ladies! I first wrote this post over a year ago, and so much has changed since then! I had my procedure back at the end of April, and was able to have pain free intercourse 15 days after treatment. Now I am still dilating, practicing intercourse, and waiting to see what happens when the Botox wears off (any day now!) it’s amazing how a 30 minute procedure can change your life and outlook so much.

    “Just drink some wine”
    “Just do more foreplay”
“If you masturbate that will help.”
“That lube didn’t help? try this one.”
    “Try this anti-anxiety medication.”
    “Just keep practicing.”

Your post made me cry too Allie! You expressed so beautifully how so many of us feel about Dr. Pacik and treatment. I’m so happy for you:-)

When I first got home from my procedure I was really ambitious and wanted to move quickly, but one thing I learned is not to OVER dilate. Which made me too sore and increased my pain. If you stick to the 2 hours a day and sleep with it every other night that is just fine! When I tried 3 or even 4 hours of dilating in a day, it was too much for my body and increased my pain. Just be patient and don’t worry- you are doing so good! I found that I had pain while inserting the larger dilators for the first several weeks, so don’t worry if you have some pain right now a few days out from your procedure- that’s totally normal! Over time you will see that as your muscles become more flexible, the pain will melt away:-)

So true! My husband and I completely agree- the cost, time and effort it takes to get treated by Dr. Pacik is COMPLETELY worth it! I’m so happy you two have done it. It only gets better from here:-)

I’m so happy for you becca! Isn’t it amazing how quickly things change for the better after getting the procedure? I feel like it was just days ago that you and I were commenting on the forum awaiting our procedure dates, and now you are pregnant with your first child and I can have pain free intercourse with my husband! I can’t wait to hear more about your success:-)

Wow, Becca, that is amazing! Now I wish I would have done that. My husband and I are trying to pay back the money we borrowed for my procedure and making payments on a cancer removal surgery my husband had and its really stressful trying to make ends meet. I’m so happy for you and your hubby for being so brave and asking for help!

Oh, Kim, I am so happy for you! I am going through the same thing right now. Sex is definitely not “mind blowing” and is very mechanical right now, but I’m just happy we are able to do it at all! Right now we are just focusing on trying some different positions to see what is the most comfortable to me. What is it about husbands underestimating their size? My husband said that he told Dr. Pacik that he was probably the same size as number 5, but we held up different dilators to compare at home when he had an erection and he is definitely a size 6! That scared me at first, because I knew I would have to be able to dilate with #6 comfortably if we were ever going to have intercourse. But it all worked out, thankfully. I’m so happy for you and Jason and happy that your marriage has a bright future ahead! You will have to celebrate your “sexiversary” now too:-)

I woke up from my procedure and my vagina had already pushed the dilator out. I wasn’t wearing tight enough underwear to hold it in. The nurse told me to insert the dilator back in, and it actually hurt really bad, but I forced it in. At first that freaked me out an I thought “oh no, the procedure didn’t work!” But then the rest of the day went well- I dilated up to #5 that day and the next day and my dilating has been going well. I’m even starting to dilate briefly with number 6 now, almost 2 weeks post procedure. I think for me the big thing that changed in my head is that it IS possible to get something that large inside me. The painless part will come with time as my muscles stretch. I can tell a difference in the type of pain I feel now, no longer the excruciating, sharp spasm pain, but the normal burning stretching feeling that happens with dilation. But my anxiety is greatly reduced now and the pain might not even be worthy of being called pain- it’s more like discomfort.
