    Hi Bitesize,

Have you purchased the glass dilators yet? They are much shorter so you can be more mobile while dilating. Just go in the bathroom, insert the glass dilator with tighter underwear, and you can cook dinner, watch TV etc. with your roomies and they will never know!

    Good luck,

Hi Ladies! That is fun you are getting to know each other before you meet in person! I had my procedure last Monday and I wanted to let you know that you will do great. The exam prior to the procedure is very quick just to determine your level of vaginismus and off to la la land you go! Dr. Pacik won’t do anything during the exam you can’t handle. Then just like everyone says the next thing you remember is waking up with the big dilator in! It really is quick and painless. I have been dilating every day since the procedure and my goal is to get the big blue guy in again! I have always had trouble with that one, so I am hoping the Botox will help. That is great your husbands are so supportive. It will make things much easier! My partner isn’t as supportive and I went to the procedure alone. It wasn’t really a big deal because everyone there is so friendly and welcoming! Dr. Pacik’s surgicenter is in an old, charming house so it seems much more personal than going to a hospital. We all even ate lunch with him in the kitchen on day 2! He is such a kind man he will put you all at ease, not to mention the awesome staff as well!

Good luck and let us know goes. You will all do great!

    Hi Sarah,

Congratulations on scheduling your procedure! I have mine scheduled as well, but I will be there next Monday. I can’t believe a week from today I will be heading to the airport in NH having completed the procedure and counseling! I am going by myself because my partner has no interest in the clinical aspect of this condition and I thought he would be so uncomfortable there that I would rather just go by myself to concentrate on me.

If you want to email me post-procedure to see how mine went, I have no problem with Dr. Pacik’s office sharing my email address. I am not bringing my personal computer, but I will be available next Wednesday to give you the scoop if you want!

Good luck to the both of us!

    Hi Esperanza,

Thanks for your reply. I recently bought the glass dilators and yes I have been sleeping in them! I alternate between the smaller one and middle one. The middle one stings when I put it In, but it is okay for sleeping once the burning stops. I like waking up knowing I dilated all night!

    Hello sjf,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing such pain. I have not overcome vaginismus, but I am working hard at it every day. I am sure every woman with this experience has had to deal with many of the issues that you describe. It seems that the sadness you are feeling is probably not best suited for a forum discussion, but individual counseling sessions. Are you able to find a good therapist in your area? Discussing your concerns with a trained professional can really help you with your feelings of isolation and sadness.

    Good luck with your journey,

    mlrchi

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new glass dilators! I have only had them a few days, but they seem to do exactly what I wanted them to do. The issue I have with dilating is the time commitment and having to lay around for over 2 hours. You can totally multi-task with these things. I like sleeping with one in and it got to be a bit uncomfortable with the purple Pure Romance dilator. The first night I slept with the similar sized glass dilator and the 2nd night I slept with the next size up. After I woke up I came downstairs, made a nice breakfast, did laundry, and started my work day. All while dilating! How is that for productivity?! As the other ladies said the main advantage is the short length and the design at the opening. Since they don’t narrow at the end I do have a bit more issues inserting them, but I need more practice. I got a bit aggressive and tried the biggest one, but that guy didn’t budge. I think I will stick with the middle one for a week or 2. I also agree that you need to wear tighter fitting pants with these dilators. I got away with loose clothes with the Pure Romance, but these do slide out a bit. No issues though with tight biker shorts, yoga pants or granny panties! I even like the look of them. Kind of classy (if that is possible with dilators!) and they come in a nice, velvet case.

I feel like a dilator addict because I have the plastic ones, the Pure Romance and now these. I think the plastic ones are good for rapid insertions because of the handle, but not sure I will use Pure Romance any longer. Is there any information on the web site about the dilators? I can post something to the vaginismus.com site and let the gals there know there is a good complementary product to the plastic kit. While I wish I had the Botox, I am trying to get through with dilators first, so I can be an advocate for those just dilating right now.

I am glad I found this forum so I can try another approach to solving my issue. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks.

Thanks Dr. Pacik, it really helps to know you are out there because I think if the dilators don’t work for me, then the botox with the dilators should do the trick. I wish I lived in your area! I will reach out if I struggle with transition to see how you can help. I appreciate it. M
