ParticipantAlso to clarify, I shouldn’t say that it’s not touching the cervix AT ALL – I’m sure it is a little bit, but nothing to worry about. You’re sitting directly on it so it’s not the most comfy. I try to minimize how much I move around. I’ve also noticed that the poking is more prominent when I’m tense/leg locked, and I don’t even realize it. Take note of your relaxation level when you’re sitting still and try to breathe, relax and unclench your butt/legs/thighs etc – I’ll bet you notice a difference!

ParticipantHey Kim! Congrats on having the procedure finished and behind you! It’s DEFINITELY more sensitive around period time, so don’t stress. Also, I totally know the feeling you’re referring to, and I assure you that even though it feels a bit painful/irritating/uncomfortable, it’s completely fine and not hitting anything. That’s honestly just the way it feels when you’re sitting and moving around a bit, it definitely feels like it’s poking your cervix – it does get better but feels that way with every size, but don’t worry, it’s normal!
The first few weeks are full of all kinds of new and kind of weird sensations, and I promise once you get a month in you’ll be much more familiar and comfortable with everything. You will also surprise yourself as you advance. I know it seems crazy that the 4, 5, and 6 can fit up there but they do and it’s fine! 🙂 Every time I went up a size, I literally thought “No way, there is absolutely no way this can fit inside me” – and not only was I wrong but after getting used to them I now see the 4 and 5 as pretty small! In my head they looked/seemed enormous but over time I allowed my body to acclimate. I am sitting here with the #6 in right now pain free and honestly there were times I really doubted I’d get here.
And I’m only 46 days post-op! So hopefully that is some encouragement for you. Move at your own pace and do what works best for you in your body’s timing. You’re doing awesome!

ParticipantI’ve definitely worried about that but if you’re making progress you won’t lose it in between! Don’t worry!I have slept with the #4 on a number of consecutive nights though, I think if you feel comfortable doing that go for it. I worked my way up to #4 and it’s completely comfortable in me now, so I leave it in longer than usual. That is also because I have minimal pain and anxiety though so you will know yourself better than anyone. You will surprise yourself though! I went 4-5 days without dilating for my period and was able to insert the #4 immediately after with no problem! Do what you’re comfortable with, but don’t worry about losing progress. If you do have to go down to #3, try putting it in for an hour and switching to #4 right after, or after 30 mins.

ParticipantIs it okay to leave town/fly the day after the procedure, if it’s later in the day? Or? We are on a tight budget and schedule and are arriving a couple days before the procedure so I can see Boston, but we’re thinking of leaving the next day otherwise it’ll be almost a full week there and we would rather not do that.

ParticipantHi Dr. Pacik, I sent you an e-mail but just wanted to ask: Are there any plans to train someone to take your place? What are your thoughts on that? I know you’ve done great work, and retirement is certainly well deserved – it’s just so discouraging to think that this treatment, the only one of its kind, will simply not exist anymore until/unless someone else happens to think of it.

ParticipantThank you for the response, Dr. Pacik. The Sybian looks like it could work potentially. I will have to figure this all out, I guess I just didn’t realize how much follow up work is involved and that is an overwhelming thing to think about in this type of situation.
I’ve read varying accounts of women and their timing of fully being able to have sex. I know it’s a case by case basis but I’m wondering if there’s a reason why some women experience it much sooner than later? If women are regressing because of lack of practice, are women who are advancing faster doing anything different? Or does it have to do with the mental/emotional aspect?

ParticipantWow congrats. Where in Canada are you? I’m in Toronto, and I also need this procedure done ASAP. How did the loan stuff work out? I’m concerned about the financial aspect.
Do you actually mind if I send you a msg privately somewhere? You can find me on twitter @courtgilmour, or facebook.com/minxc
