I recently read that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is suing the marketing firm that produced this years’ “Oscars goodie bags.” I admit I was curious to know, what’s in the bag? Each year, Oscar nominees take home the “Mother” of gift bags! So, the cat is out of the bag- along with gifts of international walking tours, free car rentals, and a lifetime supply of skin creams, is a $250 sex toy. More specifically, female nominees will receive the “arouser,” which offers “gentle suction and stimulation.”
Hollywood tends to portray starry-eyed romance. We, the audience, see the glamour, spontaneous sparks flying, and no “arouser” in sight. Thus, Hollywood inspires unrealistic “sexpectations.”
It’s refreshing to be reminded that what’s in the goodie bag is for celebrity women who are just like us- sometimes they get tired, stressed, have to shop for groceries, do laundry, and put their kids to bed, and they may need some help to get in the mood for sex!
