Perimenopause, Wait What?

When I turned 40, a friend was constantly asking me, “do you need reading glasses yet?” Actually, I didn’t. And remember feeling that she almost wished I did (we are no longer friends!). But sooner or later, it became harder for me to see the small print in the phone book. Oops. I’m showing my age again! I soon ended up needing reading glasses. A part of me thanked this friend because if she hadn’t prepared me, I may have thought I was going blind.

A Maze patient recently sent me an article which appears in The HuffPost titled: This Is What No One Tells Women About What Happens To Your Body In Your 40s. When she became symptomatic, the writer, Aileen Weintraub, asked her girlfriends, “did you know about this?” and she is met with utter silence. She adds, “We had all been duped. No one had told us”. The article doesn’t mention becoming farsighted and needing reading glasses, but it’s a humorous, honest, informative look into perimenopause.

Menopause symptoms can sometimes interfere with the quality of life. Good news is, there are several treatment options available to help relieve these symptoms. Call or contact us for a free phone consultation and see how our medical practitioners can help.
