ParticipantHi,
I felt inclined to respond to this because the Botox can be inexpensive if you find the right doctor. Maze has definitely helped me but when I heard the cost I wasn’t about it. Plus having to travel it’s not realistic for a lot of people. I was able to find a pelvic pain specialist 2 hours from me that did botox injections. He prescribed me the botox 100 units and I purchased it at the pharmacy myself using good rx for $616. The procedure was $250 using nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas). He did a total of 6 injections on March 6, 2023. My husband and I had piv sex partially 4 days later. 20 days later we had full penetration. We have since had piv sex several times and I am now pregnant which was our hope all along. Do not give up!!! And do not become discouraged because of the price because there are affordable options. On May 2022 I had never had any penetration I did therapy and dilators for
almost a year and felt stuck. I decided to get the botox and it has helped so much. I was definitely nervous not getting full anesthesia but the laughing gas took the edge off and I only felt slight pain and pressure. The procedure lasted about 5 min and 30 minutes later I was driving home.March 26, 2023 at 7:46 PM #67821emgb93
ParticipantThank you for your response! I decided not to continue with the therapy as I didn’t feel it was working for me. I went ahead and got the botox treatment and things are already so much better. I just posted on the success forum but maybe you can help answer my question as well…
I got the botox treatment about two weeks ago and had piv sex around the two week mark (something we had never done previously). I used the 4th plastic dilator shortly before and then moved to the 5th which is 1.5 in in diameter and 6.25 inches in length. I had slight pain with initial insertion and then it slowly went away and just felt like pressure. My main problem was that I didn’t feel like I could get it in any further than 3/4 of the way. I tried to move around to different angles and push for it to go in further and it just wouldn’t budge.
When my husband and I had sex I also felt like it would not go all the way in no matter what position we tried. Did anyone else feel this way? Should it go all the way in? Are there any other positions you can recommend to try that might feel better / be more successful?

ParticipantAny recommendation on what lidocaine to use? And just making sure, you rub it on the dilator along with the lubricant? Thank you so much for your input and words of encouragement. Finding this group has really helped me not feel so alone.

ParticipantThank you for your response! I am in the US and I’m not sure how much it is talked about here. I have been to one gynecologist and seen two physical therapists and none have mentioned vaginismus.
Can using the lidocaine do any kind of damage? I’ve always heard that when something is hurting you shouldn’t numb it before exercise if that makes sense. At least that’s how it was in sports. For example, if you had a back injury we were told not to use anything on it before playing. Not against using it just wasn’t sure if you had any input.
The first 3 dilators felt pretty easy. But hitting the 4th has just been awful. I feel like the size difference is a much larger jump and I’m feeling pretty defeated right now :/
