36 questions that lead to love.

I found this article in The New York Times very interesting. A reporter wrote about a study from 1997 by psychologist Arthur Aron.  Aron had succeeded in making two strangers fall in love in his laboratory. He had succeeded by having the two strangers ask each other a series of questions, 36 questions to be exact. After they exchanged answers to all of the questions, he had them stare silently into each other’s eyes for 4 minutes. The idea is that this exercise fosters closeness and mutual vulnerability. To quote the study’s authors, “One key pattern associated with the development of a close relationship among peers is sustained, escalating, reciprocal, personal self-disclosure.”

Curious about the 36 questions? Perhaps you want to try you’re own experiment! You can print these questions and bring them on your next date and tell us what happens! 😉
