hello! My procedure is in February. I was wondering if anybody on this forum has suggestions regarding places to stay in the city during that time? Also, any recommendations for Indian food restaurants locally?
January 6, 2013 at 11:28 pm #10870Heather34ParticipantThis has been a very popular thread in the past and helps patients to connect and support each other well prior to the day of your procedure.
See Questions for Spring and Summer to-be-treated patients
http://www.vaginismusmd.com/vaginismus-md-forum/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=144
Excerpts include:
Patient 1: “I booked the treatment today for the end of July. I am very nervous, but also very excited. I think the hardest thing about vaginismus is all of the emotion that’s tied up in it. Technically it’s a medical condition, but it’s sooooo much more than that, as we all know. I am optimistic, though, and I try to stay in the mindset that it can only get better from here. Thanks so much for everyone’s support. This forum is a really special place :)”
Patient 2: I’m also booked for the procedure at the end of July – it’s so anxiety provoking and yet it feels like there is finally hope at the same time! I definitely understand your anxiety!!! I think the thing that makes me most anxious right now is my husbands involvement. He definitely wants to be involved – but after such a long time of not being intimate in that way – it’s scary, not to mention the feelings of “what if it doesn’t work!!!” All that said, I am trying to stay optimistic – and clearly there is every reason to be – look at all of the women the procedure has worked for already!!”

January 7, 2013 at 9:42 pm #10873Dr. PacikParticipantThe India Palace serves very nice Indian food
575 South Willow Street Manchester, NH 03103
(603) 641-8413We have arrangements with both the Radisson and LaQuinta Hotels in Manchester
http://www.vaginismusmd.com/patient-info/accommodations-in-manchester-nh/Boston is only one hour to the south and the Atlantic seacoast is 30 minutes east, good reasons to rent a car during your stay.
Other suggestions from our vets?January 7, 2013 at 11:04 pm #10874NakitalabParticipantMy sister and I loved driving over to the coast. We did it the same day as my procedure. I’m sure I looked so funny walking around with my dilator in but it definitely was doable 🙂 But our favorite was taking a trolley tour around Cambridge, and Boston and walking the grounds of Harvard. we both wished that we had more time to tour the area.
January 8, 2013 at 9:36 am #10877Heather34ParticipantHi Lotus. If you guys plan a trip to Boston for any of the days you will be here, it’s only about an hour South and is a very fun place to visit and explore.
Here is the list of things to do in Boston:
http://www.vaginismusmd.com/patient-info/during-your-stay/visiting-the-area/
AND
http://www.vaginismusmd.com/patient-info/during-your-stay/visiting-boston-part-ii/There are also some very, very good Indian restaurants in Boston and Cambridge, including:
Kashmir – 279 Newbury St., Boston, MA
For close to twenty years, Kashmir’s sunny brick patio, with the aroma of Indian spices wafting through the air, has been a staple of Boston’s famed Newbury Street. Bostonians convene over tandoor oven specialties, fresh fish or seafood, and sauce-simmered meats. Indoor seating is enhanced by Indian calligraphy designs projected in soft lights across a wall of blonde wood banquettes, as well as a blend of classic and contemporary Indian art.”Café of India – Harvard Square, 52 Brattle St., Cambridge, MA
Harvard Square’s polyglot population has always gravitated towards the big flavors and small prices of ethnic food restaurants. The go-to destination for Indian fare has always been CAFÉ OF INDIA, conveniently located on Brattle Street, just steps from Harvard University, theatres and shops. CAFÉ OF INDIA guarantees a warm welcome, an astonishing range of choices from various regions of India, and a gratifying consistency honed by 22 successful years in the same prime spot.January 14, 2013 at 9:00 pm #10908lotus1000ParticipantThank you kindly for all of your recommendations!
January 26, 2013 at 4:21 am #10968HSParticipantHi Guys,
we are coming from FAAAR-AWAY to Manchester NH next week to receive Botox treatment by Dr. Pacik, we are so excited with a bit nerve. It’s our first time the U.S, I hope this is the end of my wife’s tragedy…
In terms of places to go, we’ve booked a room for a week at La quinta Inn to make sure the procedure goes well and then we will be in Boston for few days. We like cafes, skying, skating, Asian food, cinemas, museums, and shopping centers.
Looking forward to meet the friendly staff 🙂

January 26, 2013 at 9:46 am #10969Janet PacikParticipantWe are very happy that Dr. Pacik and I will get a chance to meet next week. We have maps and brochures in the office of things to do in our surrounding area. We also have a few articles on our website http://www.vaginismusmd.com/patient-info/during-your-stay/ under Patient Information “During Your Stay”. In this section, we have an additional 2 articles “Visting Boston Part I” and “Visiting Boston Part II”. I am sure this will give you an overview of our area and I am sure that other members of the Forum will give you some great ideas.
January 26, 2013 at 10:56 am #10972Heather34ParticipantHi HS. First, you wrote “I hope this is the end of my wife’s tragedy…” I just know it will be and this procedure will go so, so well for her. I had previously struggled with vaginismus for my entire relationship and marriage and went from being unable to insert anything at all without excruciating pain to being able to have successful and pain-free intercourse within 1 week of Dr. Pacik’s procedure. Please know you are in excellent hands with Dr. Pacik, Janet, Ellen, and all of the amazing staff. They have a very, very special way about them and Dr. Pacik is also one of the most knowledgeable doctors in the world about all aspects of vaginismus. You will see and get to experience this first hand and, again, couldn’t be with a more caring and knowledgeable group of people. It will be a wonderful first trip to the US.
As far as things to do, Janet’s link has so many things to do and places to visit in both the Manchester area as well as Boston and is a must read.
As far as specific things you mentioned, here are some great ideas in the city of Boston:
Cafes
I would seriously suggest visiting Newbury Street in Boston for the best cafes and shopping around. Here is a review for just one of the many cafes on this street:L’Aroma Café
85 Newbury Street
Boston, MA
617-412-4001Wonderful overall!
This little cafe is just right. The staff is amazing. Everyone is so nice and always smiling. It’s the perfect place to people watch and enjoy some of the best coffee and/or hot chocolate around.Asian food
Typhoon Asian Bistro
725 Boylston Street
Boston, MA
617-859-8181Great Asian bistro in the Back Bay
Best sushi and Asian dishes at perfect price on extremely great location! Very beautiful interior with the wall size water fall, red lanterns that blends with yellow pendants. Perfect place for everyday dining and romantic dates. This restaurant is also very close to Newbury Street!!!
Skating and Cinema
“A hopping spot for ice-skating is Frog Pond on the Boston Common. Frog Pond offers skate rentals and hot cocoa at the Pond Cottage.
The prime location of Frog Pond makes it easy to squeeze in just an hour or so of ice skating. Why not go skating while waiting for a movie at the Boston Common Loews Theater? Or go skating to relax after a crazy day of shopping in the nearby Downtown Crossing. And for the hopeless romantics out there, go skating under the starlit sky.
The 2012-2013 Frog Pond hours of operation are Sunday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (except Monday when the rink closes at 4 p.m.), Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
For more information, call 617-635-2120.”
Museums
2 Excellent Museums in Boston are the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) and MOS (Museum of Science).
MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS BOSTON

Can I find some similar places in Manchester NH, or do we have to go to Boston MA?
January 28, 2013 at 4:52 pm #10982Janet PacikParticipantWe have a wonderful free newspaper in Manchester, NH called “The Hippo”. Every year The Hippo declares “The Best of” and is published in their newspaper and also on-line. To view the listing on-line please click on this link: http://hippopress.com/read-article/and-the-hippo-goes-to This is such a complete listing of all the highlights of Manchester and surrounding areas. The nice thing about this listing, is that you get links to the individual websites and telephone numbers. When you do arrive in Manchester, make sure you pick up a free copy of “The Hippo” as it should be available at most hotels and around Manchester. This will give you current events of things happening in Manchester.
February 8, 2013 at 8:19 pm #11040lotus1000ParticipantIn response, India Palace was wonderful! Their lunch buffet was terrific.
We stayed at La Quinta which was (literally) 2 minutes from the office. The staff was friendly, room was clean and spacious – and we are really picky travelers, so that’s saying a lot!
