    Hi there,

    This is a question for the doctors at the Maze clinic. I’m 22 and I’ve had sex for the first time a few days ago.

    I was wondering if you could describe how it feels like when your hymen tears. I’ve never used tampons or inserted objects in my vagina, so I presume my hymen was still intact when I had sex. It hurt though, and I’m not exactly sure if it was my hymen, or if it’s vaginismus (as suggested by a friend).

    I’m not sure I can answer your question because I don’t think my hymen tore during sex (everyone is different)! But I was wondering if you have worn a tampon before and have any issues with that? I think it’s normal for sex to be a bit painful the first time.

    Hopefully a medical professional answers too 🙂
