    Hello,

I have just started work with my dilator set, after a couple years of ignoring my Vaginismus. I am able to insert my finger, and the first 3 sizes of dilators. I can leave the dilators in for a couple minutes, but I experience an uncomfortable burning sensation, which lasts for a little while after removing the dilator.

I am reading the book ‘7 Steps to Pain Free Sex’, which lays out a plan to do pelvic floor exercises, breathing/relaxation exercises, and work with the dilators. I am a little overwhelmed because I don’t know if I am doing the pelvic floor exercises correctly. I want to relax my muscles, not tighten them. Can anyone suggest a good resource for videos on the proper pelvic floor exercises to treat vaginismus? Thank you!

Hello again, Ella_Belle! When I was working on my vaginismus myself at home, I got this entire set. https://hopeandher.com/products/vaginismus-treatment-kit
It comes with a book, access to an all female forum to discuss vaginismus. Just like this one! And a set of dvds! The book is amazing and really informative!! It also teaches you how to bring yourself to a relaxed state of mind before dilating. Unfortunately I could not progress. I couldn’t get the third dilator in completely no matter how hard I tried or how long I worked on it.
You are doing an amazing job and have come so far already!!! I hope this helps! 🙂 Keep us updated!

Ella_belle, how is the dilation going? Heather gave some great advice about the dilators, but I just wanted to add that a “burning” sensation after the fact is super normal – it’s part of your muscles stretching as a result of the dilation, and as long as it’s more of a “soreness” than a stabbing pain or something more acute, it means you’re on the right track!

Let us know if you have other questions or there’s anything we can do to help!
