A major challenge that comes up with Vaginismus is feeling really negative towards oneself. So many patients have shared with me that they feel angry at their bodies, especially their vaginas, for not showing up the way they’d like.

The relationship to one’s body plays a huge role in vaginismus. Think for a few moments about the way you speak to your body. Would you speak to a best friend that way? Probably not. So, for today, try a practice of speaking to yourself as your own best friend who you love, cherish, and accept unconditionally. It may feel weird at first, but you’ll see that you can create a new pattern of relating to yourself.

You can love yourself BEFORE your vaginismus gets resolved, not WHEN.

This is an awesome post Rachel. I spent years thinking that everything would be perfect if I could just fix my vaginismus and not until then. I think it is so, so, so important to be your own best friend and love yourself right here and now today!!!
