This is an excellent, practical, and easy to read guide designed to help patients negotiate through marriages that face the challenges of a low libido partner. It outlines some of the potential causes and makes suggestions for solutions, but more importantly it validates each partner’s respective experience and can be helpful for partners to read to improve their ability to understand the other’s feelings.

This book is an easy read that challenges the assumption that sex always gets better as intimacy grows. It suggests that some eroticism is lost when there is a high degree of intimacy and we feel safe and secure. Unfortunately, the book is better at outlining the problem than suggesting solutions, but readers may find it comforting to know that this is an issue that can be addressed.

The book addresses mood swings, changes in sex drive, maintaining healthy relationships, research on testosterone loss, and common myths and misconceptions regarding estrogen and testosterone replacement therapy. In addition, there are stories and experiences of Dr. Maupin’s patients and questionnaires throughout to help readers determine their individual hormone deficiencies.
