Hi darkmoon – I’m so sorry to hear about your negative experience at the gynecologist!. It is usually hard to actually track down where something like vaginismus started, but it’s clear that this experience exacerbated the problem whether or not it existed prior. The way your gynecologist treated you was harsh and uncompassionate and just completely misguided, and it’s terrible how many women have similar stories like this. I had multiple negative experiences with medical professionals in relation to my vaginismus (none as physically invasive as yours but emotionally devastating all the same) and it definitely set me back in my treatment to be treated that way by someone I thought I should have been able to trust, I’m glad you’re getting treatment and please let us know if you have any questions that come up along the way!
