Hi all. A common question that comes up when dilating is how to know when it is time and you are ready to move up a dilator size. I believe the answer is different for each and every person. What helped me to make the decision is when I became very comfortable not only leaving in the current size that I was working with but also making the movements to imitate intercourse (i.e. gentle thrusting) and being completely comfortable removing and reinserting it. At that point, I would go up one size. As noted in an earlier post, I always found it the easiest to make this transition in the morning after sleeping with the dilators as I was the most stretched and ready for the next size up. I hope this helps.

What helps you to determine when you are ready to move up a dilator size?

Now that I know more about upping the size, my other question is: How do you sleep with them in? For me, I’ve found that they just keep falling out. I used a smaller dilator for an hour this afternoon, and then went up 1 size for an hour, right after the smaller sized time. That drove me crazy because I had to lay in bed the entire time and hold it in place. I tried wearing spanks to keep it in place, but that didn’t work Even the smaller sized dilators that I’ve moved on from, fall out. So the sizing doesn’t seem to matter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
