Good to hear from you! I do want to normalize your experience first by saying that most women, if not all, don’t look forward to gyn visits. That said it’s important to find a gyn who is what we term “happy wheels” and someone who will talk with you throughout each step of the exam so that there are no surprises. You may find it helpful to use your breathing exercises, put your hands on your chest near your heart so as to slow your body and regulate your nervous system. Dilating in the office before a speculum exam will be helpful as well. Imagine you are a super hero like Wonder Woman and know that you can do this!
